Silicon started in 1993 as a gallery specializing in "Art created on or influenced by the computer". In those early days many of our artists printed on, the now legendary, IRIS printers. After years of customers asking us what and IRIS was we decided to buy one!
That was back in 1996 and with our treasured IRIS 3047 we launched Silicon Fine Art Prints. Since then we have continually invested in technology and added new equipment to meet the demands of our artist and photographer clients. Silicon was founded upon a unique collaborative printmaking model established by a handful of fine arts workshops and presses in the United States.
While the tools at Silicon are digital, the philosophy is deeply rooted in the belief that it is the chemistry between the artist and the printmaker that results in the finest work.
This relationship is very dynamic and allows for new ideas to constantly emerge throughout the process.
Here is a list of our standard papers and canvas options.
